JONESBORO, Ark. — Charges could be increased against a Bay man arrested after he reportedly struck four people with his vehicle in two separate incidents last week.
Michael Vincent Coleman, 43, is currently being held on a $5 million bond in the Craighead County Detention Center in Jonesboro on charges of criminal attempt – first-degree murder. He was expected to be in court today, where charges could be increased after one of the four people struck reportedly died.
The Jonesboro Police Department said officers were called to the parking lot of the Walmart Market on Harrisburg Road about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, where two people were struck by a car in the parking lot.
The driver, later identified as Coleman, had already left the scene.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital. One victim was later transferred to Regional One Health in Memphis, where she reportedly died.
About six minutes later, police were called to Craighead Forest, where two other people were struck on a pedestrian walking path. Those victims were treated at a Jonesboro hospital.
Bystanders were able to identify the vehicle for police, who found it abandoned and used a canine to help locate and take Coleman into custody.
The incidents remain under investigation.
