WYNNE — The Wynne Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Week will wrap up with a special program tomorrow.
“I think the song and dance really grabs their attention. It makes it fun for them. It makes it super engaging to where they don’t want to take their eyes off of it,” said Aaron Mears, fire prevention coordinator for the Wynne Fire Department. “It has proven to be effective. We have the leading fire prevention program in the entire state. It is very interactive and I know it’s working.
“We’ve had structure fires with children inside and those children on two separate occasions were the reason everybody else got out of the house,” he added. “They said they remembered what the firefighters told them whenever we came to the school. It’s working, 100 percent working and that’s what we wanted to accomplish.”
Fire Prevention Week began Monday. The program has been presented to students at each school in the Wynne School District this week. It will end with the homeschool show at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Wynne Fire Station. The show is open to the public.
