Ms. Pat Mitchell, a resident of Fair Oaks, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 82. Pat was born in Wagoner, Okla., on Feb. 3, 1942, the daughter of Shelby and Mary (Doty) Hancock.
Pat was a graduate of Wynne High School and attended Memphis Business School. She worked as a customer service manager at Walmart for more than 25 years prior to her retirement, and she was a member of Fair Oaks Community Baptist Church. In years past, Pat enjoyed volunteering with Cub Scouts and was involved in the Cross County School District Parent Teacher Association, in which she was a past president. In her younger years, she liked fishing and hunting, and in recent years, she liked reading and was thrilled to travel with her family. She was married to Mr. Billy Mitchell for 30 years; they were blessed with two children and remained friends to the end. She loved her children and grandchildren immensely and was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family, especially at numerous fish dinners. Pat will forever be remembered for her generous spirit.
Ms. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a son, Phillip Mitchell, and wife, Wendy, of New York, N.Y.; a daughter, Pam Gurley of Southaven, Miss.; a brother, Edwin Hancock and wife, Cathy, of Conway; three sisters, Jean Mitchell of Wynne, Janie Every of Pennsylvania, and Margetta Stokes of Michigan; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Bro. Clayton Homewood officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Cemetery near Fair Oaks.
Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to service time.
