LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Department of Education said school choice filings are on the rise.
The department said a total of 54,442 applications have been reported for the upcoming school year.
The window to apply in the school choice program ended on Monday. This year’s total marks a slight increase in applications from last year, when the department received 52,529 school choice applications.
This coming school year is the second school year in which the program is open to all Arkansas students.
The Arkansas legislature approved up to $379 million in state funds for the school choice program for the 2026-27 school year at this year’s fiscal session.
