Wynne Water Utilities unveils new office space for employees, prepares for open house

The new Wynne Water Utilities office opened Monday, for employees only. Wynne Water Utilities General Manager Blake Marotti said that while construction on the office building itself is complete, a lot of smaller projects are still in process.

“I want to get that front sidewalk poured before we have people coming in and out,” he said. “I would hate to have someone trip and fall coming into the building. Before we can pour that sidewalk, we’ve got to run a few pieces of conduit in so that we can get some irrigation lines to the other side.

“We’re doing the lighting for the sign, and we had to dig a trench there,” Marotti added. “We’ve got a lot of utilities still going in the ground right now. We had to wait until that was done and had good weather to do it. With this sporadic rain that we’ve been getting, it’s been kind of hit-or-miss. As soon as we get that sidewalk in and clean up the front area where the old trailer was sitting, we’ll open it up.”

Marotti said that once the checklist is finished, an open house will be scheduled. He said to look for an announcement around the third week of March.

Marotti said the new office provides a mixture of old and new.

“We wanted to have an ode to the old train depot so that’s why we’ve got the dormers up on top on that side to mimic that,” he said. “It’s a modern building with really clean lines. We brought in glass from the old office downtown so we’ve still got some of the old world feel from that.”

Marotti said the front lobby looks similar to the former office but is a lot more open concept with office space and a conference room for meetings.

“We have a little bit more space for the girls to move around,” he said. “Everything being brand new we don’t have the electric issue and things that we had downtown that we fought with for a very long time. It’s been a welcoming thing to be in this new building. We’ve been very blessed.”

The Wynne Water Utilities office is located on Falls Boulevard, just north of Wynne Apothecary at the intersection of Falls and Hamilton.
