FORREST CITY — As we have reported, Donesha Williams-Boyd will step into the role of athletic director at Forrest City upon the retirement of Donnie Willis.

Boyd will become the first Black female to lead the Forrest City program, something that has not been lost on the Forrest City High School graduate.

“My vision is continuing strengthening Mustang Athletics by building competitive programs, creating opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills at an early age, and ensuring our coaches have resources, training and support necessary to lead successfully,” Williams-Boyd said. “Most importantly, I want our athletic program to help students grow not only as athletes but as young men and women of character who are prepared for success in the classroom as well as in competition and even in life.”

She will become the Forrest City AD on July 1. Willis, who has served as the Forrest City athletic director since 2005, will retire effective at the end of the current school year on June 30.

Williams-Boyd has been a part of the Forrest City coaching staff since 2004, most recently as the cheerleading and girls’ track coach.
