FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A record could be set when Arkansas opens the season Saturday at home against North Alabama.
The National Weather Service is calling for the temperature to be at or above 100 degrees at the 3:15 p.m. kickoff.
Arkansas’ hottest season opener was in 1991 — 100 degrees — for Houston Nutt’s debut as the Arkansas head coach.
The Hogs won the game over Louisiana-Lafayette, 38-17. Kickoff time for that game was 6:15 p.m. It is the only Arkansas game since 1990 to have a triple-digit temperature at kickoff.
North Alabama opened the season last week with a 22-10 win over Samford. Broadcast time for the game is noon Saturday on Country 92.5 and the EAB Media Group app.
Arkansas State
Arkansas State opens the season Saturday at Memphis. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KWYN AM 1400/FM 102.9/FM 106.9, Oldies 102.3 and the EAB Media Group app, beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.
