WYNNE — The next home game for Wynne Yellowjackets football will be Homecoming against Greene County Tech. That’s on Friday, Oct. 2.

Judging for the Cross County Chamber’s “Paint the Town Blue and Gold” will take place Thursday, Oct. 1.

“Last year, we made the change that we started to judge ‘Paint the Town’ on a Thursday. The reason we made that change instead of on the actual day of homecoming is because we noticed a lot of businesses would want to participate in the homecoming festivities at the school, but they also wanted to be there when we judged and announced the winners,” said Lexie Gahr of the Cross County Chamber of Commerce. “For a lot of the businesses we would go to to present them their award to show they won, they wouldn’t be there because they were at the school. Last year, we decided to move it to a Thursday. We didn’t receive any push back that I’m aware of ,so we’re doing that again this year. Judging will take place at 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 for the Jackets. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m.”

The 2026 Wynne homecoming court includes senior maids Reece Autry, Carmyn Collins, Katie Cowan, Presley Devasier and Blair Huddleston, junior maids are Aubrey Carter, Rose Jackson and Baxley Vaught, and sophomore maids Ansleigh Hobbs, Stella Holbrook and Saaniyah Tucker.

The Jackets are off this week. They will open conference play at Brookland next week.

The Wynne 7th grade football team beat Batesville Monday at Yellowjacket Stadium, 34-14.

The Junior Jackets and 8th grade team will host Nettleton Thursday.

The Cross County Thunderbirds will return to action Friday at home against Star City, while the Junior T-Birds host Earle Thursday.
