WYNNE — The Wynne Yellowjackets saw their first competition of the Randy Coleman era over the weekend as part of the annual “Beast of the East” 7-on-7 camp in Hoxie.
Yellowjackets coach Randy Coleman said the team is slowly adjusting to the new offense.
“Coach (Clay) Totty left a disciplined, strong bunch. The biggest thing is just adjusting to the change in offense,” Coleman said. “You’ve had a program that’s been either split back veer or flexbone for 10 years. We come in here throwing the ball a little bit. It’s taken some adjustments but, all in all, I’m super happy. Great kids, great coaching staff, great community. Couldn’t be happier.
“We’ve probably got about a third of the offense in and probably half the defense,” he added. “We need to continue to install, continue to put things in and rep things we’ve done throughout the spring. Just clean it up. Get to where we’re as sharp as we can be once August rolls around.”
The Jackets will open the 2026 season on Friday, Aug. 28, at home versus Marion. Prior to that is a scrimmage on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Osceola.
