WYNNE — The Wynne School District has installed a sign honoring Genie and the late Jerry Spencer near the new tennis courts across from Yellowjacket Stadium.

The new courts sit partly on property formerly owned by the Spencers, whose home was destroyed in the March 2023 Wynne tornado.

The sign reads, “When parents cheer their children on, they instill the courage needed to build resilience, self-esteem, and self-reliance. The lasting gift is the strength and stamina to pursue and achieve their dreams.”

The new tennis facility is part of the rebuild of Wynne High School, which was also destroyed in the tornado. The facility includes four courts and will allow Wynne to host several home matches during the 2026 season.
