WYNNE — The Wynne School District has unveiled the renderings of the new Wynne High School and other projects planned districtwide.
“After months of hard work, dedication, and collaboration, we are proud to showcase this state-of-the-art facility designed to inspire and empower our students for generations to come,” the district said in a Facebook post.
As previously reported, the Arkansas Legislative Panel endorsed the State Department of Education’s request for the $65.8 million in state-restricted reserve funds for the state’s share in public projects for schools. While the Wynne School District won’t receive anywhere near that amount, the panel’s vote makes an early start for the rebuild of the new Wynne High School more likely.
Wynne Schools Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Moore said being able to pour the slab and foundation prior to the winter months would be a best-case scenario for the district.
“If that happens, we feel very, very confident that in January 2027 – which we moved into the old high school in January 1999 – we could transition the high school kids off the temp site into there,” Dr. Moore told KWYN this week. “What we would do is start that school year. The kindergarten building would be done. Third grade move down, sixth grade move down, ninth grade move down. All of that would happen at the beginning of the 2026 school year.
“We don’t want to do two transitions in one year. We definitely don’t want to switch buildings in a year,” he added. “Then when we come back in January, our students would just walk right into the new school.”
The district also released the renderings for the new Junior High entrance, administration building, and locker rooms yesterday.
