Wynne School District reviewing Yellowjacket logo use

WYNNE — The Wynne School District is reviewing the use of the Yellowjacket logo across its various networks to ensure it is in line with the license agreement with Georgia Tech University.

Georgia Tech owns the GT Buzz Design Mark, which is the Wynne Yellowjackets logo. The school district receives a limited, nonexclusive, non-transferable license to use the logo for approved school and school organization purposes that is subject to rules for quality, presentation, sales and oversight.

The agreement allows the district to use the logo for athletic team apparel and uniforms, school merchandise and souvenirs, school signage, fields and courts, official school promotional materials, and school-owned websites, apps and social media accounts. However, all sold items must display the licensee/school name.

The GT Buzz Design Mark cannot appear on its own. The district cannot give others permission to use the logo without Georgia Tech’s express written consent.

Third-party marks may be combined only when the school’s name is conspicuously displayed and the use is not likely to confuse the public.

The mark cannot be used on digital property or platforms that the school does not own.

The district also reminded stakeholders that the mark must be used as depicted in the agreement, with the registered trademark symbol, and cannot be altered or used to create new marks.

The mark also cannot be used with a confusingly similar mark or with red or a red-and-black color scheme. It also cannot be connected with alcohol, drugs or tobacco or used in a way that implies Georgia Tech endorses a third party, product or service.
