WYNNE — Homecoming week begins tomorrow in the Wynne School District.
Students at Wynne High School will compete for the Homecoming Cup.
“Classes compete. It’s probably their favorite thing about homecoming is the Homecoming Cup,” said Hannah Sutton, a counselor at Wynne High School. “Every event during homecoming gets you points.
“Basically, Wednesday is a big field day for our high schoolers, which we’re really excited about,” she added. “They compete against the other classes in games all morning. Then, for lunch, they get to have food trucks. We’ve got eight food trucks coming in for lunch that day. Then, in the afternoon, they start getting ready to prepare their parade floats for the next day because, on Thursday, we have our parade.
“We’ve got our parade on Thursday,” Sutton continued. “That goes by all of the schools so all of the kids from every campus line the streets and cheer for those different parade floats. Our high schoolers even get points towards the Homecoming Cup for their parade floats. That’s part of the competition, who has the best float. Then, on Friday morning, we have our pep rally. We get to have multiple pep rallies on Friday during homecoming so that every school gets to participate and then Friday night, we’ve got the game.”
Students across the district will also get a chance to dress up each day. The dress-up themes are as follows:
- Wednesday, Sept. 30 — Space Jam (Wear your favorite jersey or class colors.)
The class colors are Kindergarten, red; first grade, blue; second grade, gold, third grade, white, fourth grade, white; fifth grade, navy; sixth grade, gold; seventh grade, white; eighth grade, gold; ninth grade, navy, tenth grade, white; eleventh grade, gold; and twelfth grade, navy.
The Homecoming Games will be held from 9:15 to 11 a.m. at Wynne High School.

The homecoming parade begins at 1 p.m. The parade will begin on Lemons Street behind Yellowjacket Stadium.

The pep rally for Wynne High School and Wynne Junior High begins at 8:15 a.m. The pep rally for Wynne Intermediate and Primary schools begins at 9:15 a.m. School will dismiss at 2 p.m. Friday.
Homecoming festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Yellowjacket Stadium. Maids are asked to arrive at Yellowjacket Arena for pictures by 5 p.m. and report to the field at 6 p.m.
