Wynne School Board procures desks, truck in special meeting

The Wynne School Board accepted bids for teachers’ desks for the temporary high school campus and a truck for the superintendent during a special called meeting last night.

Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Moore told the board that 50 temporary desks for teachers were needed for the campus, and would eventually be repurposed. Bids were presented from On Time Supplies, Office Depot, and Star Printing.

The board went with Star Printing, which had the lowest bid of $24,250 if they assembled the desks and $395 each unassembled. School board member Shannon Hobbs suggested the district use inmate labor from FCI Forrest City to assemble the furniture as a means of cost savings. The board agreed to purchase the desks from Star Printing but did not settle on a means of putting the desks together.

In other news, the board opted to go with Bull Motor Company on a truck for the superintendent. Dr. Moore noted his current truck, which has about 90,000 miles on it, would be moved into the district’s fleet, replacing another vehicle.
