The City of Wynne is seeking a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The agency informed the city following the March 31 tornado of the grant, which would come from unspent 2018 disaster relief funds.
Wynne Mayor Jennifer Hobbs updated the city council last night on the grant. She noted Evolve Bank has agreed to donate its right of way for the project. The city is in discussions with a second private landowner to either donate or sell their right of way. The road would be located between the junior high and primary, north of the temporary campus.
In other news, the city council authorized Mayor Hobbs to contract with a company to accept electronic payments. Mayor Hobbs said that would allow residents to update their privilege licenses, purchase building permits, rent the buildings and RV spots at the Wynne Sports Complex, and roll-offs from Wynne Public Works all online. Fees charged to the city would be passed onto those paying for the service.
The council also approved a request from parks and rec director Zach Morris to seek bids to add 20 sewer hook-ups at the RV park at the Wynne Sports Complex; approved Ordinance No. 895 concerning the fire marshal on the third and final reading; and authorized the burning of outdated records.
