WYNNE — Wynne Public Works has issued a reminder regarding residential garbage pick-up after several incidents of mattresses and other items being dumped into commercial dumpsters.

“There’s a lot of stuff being put in the commercial dumpsters that’s not supposed to go in there. We’ve had anything from construction material to old mattresses,” said Wynne Public Works director Devyn Arens. “Construction material can damage our truck, get down in the press and mess it up. Mattresses they don’t compress, of course. Stuff like that just needs to be put on the side of the road and our knuckleboom will pick it up. If those items are in the dumpster, we can’t dump them.”

Arens said bulky items will be picked up the same day as the regular trash if placed on the curb. Those items should be placed on the curb away from your trash can, your mailbox and overhead power lines.

Arens said residents should not place any items on the curb that they do not want to get picked up. Recycling is picked up on the same day as regular garbage.

Hazardous waste materials and tires will not be picked up by the city.

Arens said trash cans should be on the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day and brought in by sundown the same day.
