JONESBORO, Arkansas — The Wynne Lady Yellowjackets are the number one seed in the district tournament this week, and are really playing for seeding in next week’s regional tournament at Pulaski Robinson. The Lady Jackets will not play until Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Head coach Ashley Busby says it’s important not to take that number one seed for granted.
“It’s great to be in the one seed. It all comes down to the games that we play here in the district tournament,” Busby told the Progress. “The girls know this. Last year, we came in as the two seed and what we talked about is everyone is on an even playing field when it comes to post-season. We took the win last year against Brookland and was able to go into regionals as a one seed so these games are going to be really important for us.”
The Wynne baseball team is the third seed. Their first game is tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. against the winner of a game today between Trumann and Westside. The Jackets must win that game to advance past the district tournament and into next week’s regional.
KWYN AM 1400/FM 102.9/FM 106.9 and the EAB Media Group app will broadcast as many games as possible in the district tournament this week.
