WYNNE — Wynne High School will hold a “Senior Send-Off” for graduates in the Class of 2024 this Sunday, May 19.
The seniors will gather at the temporary campus before being taken on their final school bus ride to Jonesboro for practice that afternoon.
Graduation is set for 5 p.m. Sunday at the First National Bank Arena on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
“We’re going to meet at the high school at 12:45 p.m. We’re busing up at 1 p.m.,” said Wynne High School principal Dusty Meek. “We encourage everybody to line Highway 1 as we go up to ASU for our practice. We’re just going to remain up there and have the ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. We’re going to have our practice, have some refreshments for the students, and then get ready for graduation.”
Meek said graduation was moved up to allow time for families to take photos and celebrate their seniors’ accomplishments following the ceremony.
“This group has been through a lot,” he said. “They’ve dealt with COVID as freshmen and sophomores. Last year as juniors with the impact of the tornado, and this year being on the temporary campus. We just want to celebrate them as well.”
