WYNNE — The Wynne Fire Department is continuing fire inspections at local businesses.
The department is hosting an aerial operations class this week and plans to visit several large-scale facilities during the process.
Wynne Fire Chief Kory Ward said the inspections began earlier this year and will continue in order to keep all businesses and customers safe.
“I think we hit the ground running the first of February. I don’t know what the number is on how many they’ve got through. I know they made a decent dent, but we’ve still got a long way to go,” Chief Ward said. “If they show up, it’s an education thing. We’re trying to educate your about your business and fire safety plan along with if there are any code violations. Make sure your exits are lighted or visible. Make sure your patrons have a way to get out.
“You may have somebody traveling through here that’s not from our community and does not know your occupancy or your business,” he added. “They need to be able to know in case of an emergency how to get out. We go in and just touch on those things. Touch on the fire code. Make sure everything’s compliant. That they have smoke detectors. That they have fire extinguishers.”
