Wynne Economic Development receives RFI from ag-related company, potential for 150 new jobs

WYNNE — Wynne Economic Development has received a request for information, otherwise known as an RFI, from an ag-related company looking to expand in the region.

Wynne Economic Development CEO Bevin Hunter told board members this week that the company could potentially create 150 jobs with an investment of $250 million. The company is being referred to as Project Jade.

Hunter noted that RFIs are just the first step in the process, but the request is a positive sign for the future.

Wynne Economic Development is working to promote the area at various conferences such as the Arkansas Rural Development Conference planned for next month in Hot Springs. The organization is also working with Retail Attractions, LLC to distribute information at the International Council of Shopping Centers Conference in Las Vegas.

In other news, recommendations will be considered in May to replace Dub Smith who stepped down last month. The board tabled a vote on a part-time position for Wynne Downtown Revitalization until there is a memorandum of understanding on the agreement. The board also discussed a dinner for local businesses to discuss how Wynne Economic Development can assist them, such as with the Renew Wynne grants.
