Wynne Economic Development receives marketing update; discusses equestrian sports project

Economic development consulting firm Retail Strategies presented an update to the Wynne Economic Development board Tuesday night.

Kam South, senior portfolio director for Retail Strategies, talked with the board about how to market the community. South discussed a potential franchisee workshop to inform the community and stakeholders about how to become a franchisee. He said nearly a dozen prospects are currently looking in this area, and there is a need for a 10,000-square-foot space or more. The prospects also want to be able to acquire land and receive incentives.

WEDC board members are working on a new project from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. The scope of the project is non-traditional – an equestrian sports destination and arena currently looking in the Midwest. The project would require 300 to 500 acres with proximity to the interstate or four-lane highway, and zoning to accommodate loading, restaurants, and equestrian arenas.

The board also approved splitting a sponsorship at the upcoming Arkansas Economic Developers and Chamber Executives (AEDCE) conference in Little Rock. WEDC agreed to split the cost of a $1,500 sponsorship with the Cross County Chamber of Commerce.
