Wynne Downtown Revitalization is working with EAST at Wynne High School to bring events to downtown Wynne.
The organization has purchased a projector and screen for EAST, which plans to host regular movie nights at the splash pad. WDR chair Kim McGuire said the equipment will be installed in the next few weeks with plans to host the first movie night in March.
The WDR board also discussed the return of “A Downtown Mardi Gras” and carnival. The event is set for Saturday, March 23.
Bevin Hunter, Wynne Economic Development president and CEO, updated the board on a grant to repair the decorative lighting downtown. Hunter said the lights are working, but several of them have broken globes following the tornado. She will work with Wynne Public Works Director Jeff Hood to identify the globes that are broken and have them replaced.
The discussion to hire a part-time director was tabled until the board can establish a budget for 2024. A director is needed for the organization to become a Main Street designated program. The board will meet on Thursday, Feb. 22, before the regular meeting to discuss the budget.
Members agreed to move their monthly meeting to the fourth Thursday of the month. They also agreed to name Andrea Taegtmeyer as board secretary.
