The Wynne City Council has approved an ordinance rezoning property in the tornado-affected area to allow for duplexes.
In other news, council members agreed last night to pay off the note for an equipment shed for the public works department. Around $31,500 is still due on the shed, which was scheduled to be paid off in October 2024.
Wynne Mayor Jennifer Hobbs said the city would likely have to start supplementing the street department through the general fund. She noted previous administrations did that, but the money was shifted when the new city hall was built.
Mayor Hobbs said any money moved to the street department would be extremely restricted.
As previously reported, Mayor Hobbs was selected to the Delta Regional Authority’s Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy in 2024.
That will require six in-person sessions, two of which will impact city council meetings next year. As a result, the May 2024 and September 2024 meetings have been moved to the third Tuesday of the month.
