WYNNE — The city of Wynne issued a reminder to businesses Thursday regarding local sales tax collections.
The city says the current sales tax rate is now 9.625%. It was 10.5%.
However, part of the tax was eliminated following the expiration of the county jail tax that was put in place for the construction of that facility. The jail bonds have now been paid off and that part of the tax has gone away.
One-eighth of a cent from the county jail tax remained on the books for operations and maintenance.
The city said businesses should ensure their point-of-sale systems, cash registers, accounting software and tax calculations are updated to reflect the new 9.625% rate.
