CHERRY VALLEY — Cross County Farm Bureau’s April 4-H Student of the Month is Mary Claire Witcher, daughter of Kent and Stacy Witcher of Cherry Valley. As a 7th-grade homeschooler, she is a member of North East Arkansas Christian Home Educators where she takes part in cosmetology classes and is captain of her dodgeball team.

Mary Claire has been in Cross County 4-H for six years and is currently vice president of Delta Ridge Community Club. Mary Claire is organizing and planning a rabbit workshop for 4-H members in several counties next month. During her time in 4-H, Mary Claire has participated in poultry chain, attended numerous rabbit shows, county O’Ramas, omelet days, county fundraisers, shown animals at county and district events, and entered exhibits in the county fair including flowers, handicrafts, and artwork. Her current 4-H project focus is Animal Science.

Mary Claire has numerous community service hours working at food pantries, educating younger children on livestock care, visiting nursing homes, working school days at Three County Fair, assisting with fundraising auctions, assisting at community petting zoos, cleaning the fairgrounds, offering free babysitting and volunteers her time for foster family events through Rhea Lana’s of Jonesboro. She has taken piano lessons for over three years, has won several awards at her recitals, and has earned first place in talent shows. She frequently performs vocal and piano specials at Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church in Wynne where she has been a member since 2021. In her free time, she enjoys reading, learning hairstyles and techniques, and hanging out with friends.

Mary Claire’s future plans include showing a pig at the county fair, winning first place at District 4-H O’Rama, and attending cosmetology school. The Cross County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee presented Mary Claire with a certificate, cup, and T-shirt.
