White River Health to leave UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage network

BATESVILLE, Ark. — Another healthcare system in Arkansas is leaving the UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage network.

White River Health announced Wednesday that its hospitals and facility-based services would no longer accept that insurance beginning Jan. 1, 2027.

The system cited frequent claim denials, administrative requirements and documentation demands that it said burden physicians and delay patient care. The two failed to reach an agreement in March but signed an extension through Dec. 31.

No agreement has been reached beyond that.

The White River Health System includes White River Medical Center in Batesville, Stone County Medical Center in Mountain View, and outpatient, primary care and specialty clinics across north central Arkansas.

The system said Arkansas state retirees, teachers and patients with VA coverage will not be affected.
