WYNNE — Wynne Water Utilities General Manager Blake Marotti told members of the Wynne City Council last night that two of the three structures at the wastewater treatment plant are now complete.

Marotti said the administration building and the maintenance building, save for a few punchlist items, are complete.

However, Marotti said treatment plant staff will stay out of those two buildings as much as possible until the third building at the site — the wastewater treatment plant itself — is closer to completion. He said a grand opening ceremony will be planned once the rebuild of the facility is finished.

Marotti said progress is being made for the wastewater treatment plant building itself. He said most of the below-ground structures for the treatment plant building are now at existing grade, and some of the block buildings are starting to go back up for those structures.

The wastewater treatment plant was destroyed in the March 2023 Wynne tornado. The rebuild is expected to be completed about a year from now.

Marotti also gave aldermen an update on the $4.5 million in federal appropriations for improvements to the water treatment plant. Marotti said the utility is currently working with Crist Engineers to establish a budget and scope of work for the project before they can receive final approval and access the funds.
