WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said he plans to provide $8 billion in economic aid to help farmers offset rising diesel prices and other increased input costs.

Under the Harvest Fuel Relief Program, the U.S. Department of Agriculture will use a formula based on planted acres, production costs, yields and prices to reimburse a portion of modeled losses during the 2026 crop year. The money is coming through the department’s Commodity Credit Corporation, with payments administered by the Farm Service Agency.

Payment rates will be announced in November for eligible crops. It’s not yet known when farmers will receive the payments.
