Trumann officials, ARDOT address drainage issues following flooding

TRUMANN, Ark. — Trumann Mayor Jay Paul Woods and other officials met this week with representatives from ARDOT and other state and federal leaders to address draining issues in the Poinsett County city.

Woods said that recent flooding in Trumann was likely unavoidable but was an eye opener.

Woods said that work has now begun on cleaning ditches around Trumann with work starting in the southern part of the city. He said that clean out for over six miles of ditches has already been bid out and the Corps of Engineers is also addressing the south end of the Bay Ditch north to Craighead County.

Woods said the flooding is more than just a problem for the city of Trumann and officials are looking as far south as Cross County to address the issue.
