Sharp County coroner-elect arrested in pet cremation fraud investigation

SHARP COUNTY, Ark. — The Sharp County coroner-elect has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged fraudulent pet cremation.

Seth Wortham was arrested Friday and booked into the Sharp County Jail in Hardy on charges of theft of property, obstructing governmental operations, and tampering with physical evidence. The charges stem from an ongoing investigation involving pet cremation services that were paid for but allegedly not carried out as promised.

The Sharp County Sheriff’s Department stress that the charges are allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Worth was elected to the post in May and will assume the role in January, unless he is proven guilty of the charges.
