POINSETT COUNTY, Ark. — Two communities in Poinsett County recognized longtime county resident Hugo “Buddy” Schwarz Friday for his 103rd birthday.
During a special ceremony, Schwarz received a key to the city of Harrisburg, and Weiner Mayor Jeremy Kimble also issued a proclamation declaring Aug. 7 “Hugo ‘Buddy’ Schwarz Day.”
Schwarz is a veteran of World War II, serving in East Asia. After the war, he began farming in Poinsett County and is still involved on the farm today.
Schwarz said his secret to reaching 103 is living a good life.
