LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed an executive order allowing farmers and loggers to use dyed off-road diesel in qualifying vehicles on state highways.

The fuel is normally restricted to farm use only.

The executive order suspends penalties for using the fuel in qualifying vehicles operated by agricultural and forestry businesses across the state.

Sanders said the order comes as input costs for the agriculture industry remain at an all-time high.

She said the change is one part of her administration’s work to cut costs for Arkansans, alongside eliminating the state grocery tax, cutting income taxes by 25 percent, returning $1.5 billion to taxpayers and keeping utility costs among the nation’s lowest.

Sanders said the temporary allowance comes as the state moves deeper into the harvest season and will help farmers and loggers “continue to feed and fuel America.”
