HARRISBURG, Ark. — Poinsett County Sheriff Kevin Molder has responded to a lawsuit filed by former county 911 director Stacy Cooper.
Cooper filed the lawsuit last month in federal court in Jonesboro.
Molder, Chief Deputy Ryan Price, Capt. Devon Stroud, and the Poinsett County government are named in the 19-page complaint, which alleges Cooper was fired this past February for her support of Wes Holt, who is challenging Molder in the November general election.
Cooper is also alleging sexual harassment and other violations of the First Amendment in the lawsuit.
Sheriff Molder responded to the lawsuit on social media, noting that Cooper was cautioned repeatedly about issues involving overtime spending and violations of a policy concerning access to restricted areas in the 911 center.
Molder said Cooper’s termination received support from the full Poinsett County Quorum Court.
The matter is being tried before U.S. District Judge D.P. Marshall, Jr.
