Paragould woman sentenced to 24 years in child endangerment case

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould woman has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty this week to starving her children.

Second Judicial District Judge Pam Honeycutt sentenced Beatrice D. Russ, 30, on four counts of first-degree child endangerment this week.

Russ received an additional two years of suspended imposition of sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree battery.

Police arrested Russ and Michael Harris last January after three of their nine children were hospitalized with severe malnutrition. The child told authorities they often only ate white rice. They also had not attended school or seen a doctor or dentist since March 2024.
