Mrs. Sandra Kay Mitchell, a resident of Pine Bluff and formerly of Forrest City, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 69. She was born in Elaine on Feb. 11, 1957, the daughter of Hoyt and Laura (Floyd) Criss.
Sandra was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a woman of Baptist faith and most recently attended Ridgewood Baptist Church in Forrest City. On July 28, 1973, she married Carl Mitchell, and they shared 40 years together before his passing in 2013.
Sandra found joy in the simple things in life. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, talking on the phone, and sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; and two sisters, Margaret Jones and Glenda Tilly.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Allen Mitchell and wife, Brandi, of Forrest City, and Robby Lee Mitchell of Forrest City; two daughters, Amanda Kay Douglas and husband, Gary, of Colt, and Angie Faye Baldwin and husband, Brian, of Pine Bluff; five brothers, Hoyt E. Criss and wife, Carrie, of Baytown, Texas, Jeff Criss and wife, Patsy, of Rogers, Randy Criss and wife, Diane, of Byhalia, Mississippi, Dennis Criss and wife, Cathy, of Palestine, and Kelly Criss and wife, Janice, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; a sister, Donna Criss of Forrest City; ten grandchildren, Trenton, Kailey, Lexi, Chance, Briana, Houston, Gary Jr. and wife, Belinda, Tanner, Landon and wife, Kayla, and Austin; eight great-grandchildren, Leah, Jace, Ragan, Addie, Jarrett, Garrett, Hannah, and Grayson; one great-great-grandchild, Bennett; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
