Mr. Roger Morris Beard, 70, of Fisher, Arkansas, departed this life, going to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 23, 1953, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Morris and Maxine Collier Beard.
Left to honor and cherish his memories of 47 years is his wife of the home, Carol Lynette Meredith Beard; four children, Janet Furrow (Sandy) of Pleasant Plains, Kim Beard (Michael) of McCrory, Sam Beard (Kayla) of Searcy, and James (Danielle) Beard of Fair Oaks; 10 grandchildren, Josey, Caleb, Cheyanne, Chandler, Molly, Cameron, Elizabeth, Olivia, Joshua and Emma; five great-grandchildren, Callie, Scarlett, Scott, Matilda, and Ryker. He is also survived by his sister, Francis Reed of Munster, Indiana; brother, Forrest Beard (Judy) of McCrory; and plenty of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Maxine Beard; brothers, Claude, Big Sam, Michael, and Johnny; sister, Shirley; and niece, Brandy.
On Aug. 25, 1976, Roger married Lynette Beard and together they raised four children. He was a loving husband and father, that loved family gatherings as long as there was food involved. He loved to watch his big children play ball, laugh, and tease them. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them, especially when playing horseshoes and trying to cheat. He enjoyed camping, and hunting (when he didn’t let the deer sleep under his stand while he was sleeping in his stand).
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Kernodle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Fair Oaks First Assembly of God at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, with burial in Barnishaw Cemetery at Pine Tree. Rev. Rodney Eldridge will officiate.
Ray Weeks, David McCann, Colby Meredith, Ronnie Perry, Tanner Skinner, and Jeremy Barnes will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Michael Jones, Blake Meredith, Jason Clark, and Brad Knight.
