Patsy Garner Horner, 92, longtime resident of McCrory (Riverside), Arkansas, peacefully passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, at Stonebridge Senior Living in Cabot, Arkansas, with family at her side.
She was born in Fitzhugh, Arkansas, on June 2, 1934. Upon graduating from McCrory High School, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, with her cousin, Janie Lou, and they shared an apartment and both worked for Memphis Light & Power. After that, she met and married the love of her life, Bob Horner. Patsy was a proud military wife, embracing the many adventures that came with her husband’s career in the U.S. Air Force. Their journey began with their first assignment together in Puerto Rico, a place Patsy absolutely adored for its local people, vibrant culture, and beautiful beach living. Over the years, their service took them across the country with stops in Washington State, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Virginia, before they finally enjoyed a well-deserved retirement.
Moving back to her hometown of McCrory afforded Patsy special time to spend with her parents. Along the way, Patsy worked outside of her home, but her most enjoyable job was working at Walter Rushing’s Grocery in Patterson. There, her warm personality allowed her to make many wonderful friends and build long-term relationships within the community.
Patsy’s deep faith was central to her life. She was a faithful member of Faith Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in McCrory for over 50 years. She loved her church family deeply and served her community with joy through her work in Sunday School, the Bereavement Committee, and the Bus Ministry.
Patsy is survived by her children, Robin (John) Brady of Cabot, Arkansas, Robert (Betty Jane) Horner of Riverside, Arkansas, and Patti Horner of Beebe, Arkansas; her cherished grandchildren, Jonathan (Brittany) Dodson, Ashley (Paul) Fry, Caleb (Amanda) O’Shields, Joshua Dodson, Hannah Ladd, Sarah Horner, Jessica (Matt) Manley, Nicholas (Isabella) Horner, and bonus grandchildren, John R. Brady, Jr., Mark (Vicki) Brady, and Melissa Brady; along with 12 great-grandchildren and three bonus great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Cecil (Carol) Garner of Searcy, Arkansas; and her sister, Emily Garner of Searcy, Arkansas. She leaves behind a host of special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. “Bob” Horner; her parents, Emmitt and Willie Garner; her brother, Donald Garner; and her sister, Brenda Garner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in McCrory with Bro. Steve Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery at Riverside.
