Obituary: Mattie Lou Tubbs of McCrory

On Monday, March 25, 2024, at the age of 93, Mrs. Mattie Lou (Isbell) Tubbs, a long-time resident of McCrory, Arkansas, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. She was born in Jackson County, Arkansas, on Sept. 8, 1930, to Mrs. Ruth L. Ford.

Ms. Mattie attended Jackson County schools as a little girl. On June 27, 1946, she married her husband of 47 years, Mr. Henry Lee Tubbs. Together they raised five rambunctious boys. Ms. Mattie attended Rainer Grove Baptist Church and Patterson First Baptist Church. She had a love for the Bible, reading daily and quoting scripture. Ms. Mattie enjoyed working in her flower garden and raising vegetables for her family. An amazing cook, chicken and dumplings, chicken and dressing, and homemade yeast rolls were her family’s favorites. She enjoyed cats, feeding them daily and not turning any away, especially the bobtail cat that she named Bob. She had a love for her grandchildren; they would brighten her day with a smile on her face.
