Mr. Hugh Hearn, a resident of Mountain View, departed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born in Forrest City on Feb. 13, 1946, the son of Cleatus and Dena May (Alford) Hearn.
Hugh was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served in Europe during the Vietnam War. He dedicated 20 years to his work at Yale Hoist in Forrest City before retiring for the first time. He later devoted another 20 years to the United States Postal Service, serving as a city carrier in Forrest City, Wynne, and Batesville before retiring to Mountain View.
In retirement, Hugh cherished quiet days spent in his rocking chair on the porch, studying his Bible and listening to classic country, bluegrass, and gospel music on his CD player. He had a gift for striking up conversations with complete strangers and loved telling stories, watching westerns, and sharing his seemingly endless knowledge and trivia about them. Hugh also had a soft spot for animals and took in countless abandoned dogs over the years, giving them a home and a place in his heart.
For the last four years, Hugh enjoyed his retirement alongside his longtime friend, Tonya Thompson; her daughter, Lea; and their beloved pet, Juniper. He treasured the companionship and simple moments they shared.
Hugh was preceded in death by his two wives, Patricia Paulette (Campbell) Hearn and Frances Anita (Campbell) Rushing-Hearn; his parents; his son, Ronnie Hearn; and one grandchild.
He is survived by his children, Timmy Hearn and Amy McCorkle, both of Wynne; his sister, Peggy Hearn of Norfork; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a special nephew, Richard Cooper, who helped care for Hugh in recent years; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept; 21, 2026. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, at Barnishaw Cemetery in Pine Tree, with Bro. Virgil Roberts officiating.
