Barney Eugene Burnett Sr., 75, passed away peacefully at his home on June 27, 2026.
Barney was born on Sept. 3, 1950, to Barney Burnett and Julia (Gray) Burnett, in Wynne, Arkansas. Eugene graduated from Wynne High School in 1968, beginning his career as a mechanic for Murray Chevrolet Company in Wynne. Eugene was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pam (Cowan) Burnett, on May 30, 1969, who was devoted to each other for 57 years. Eugene then began selling parts for Moore Auto Parts in Cherry Valley, Arkansas. In 1977, he began his dedicated service of 48 years serving the community through Hamlin Tractor and Auto Parts, where he built lasting friendships.
Outside of work, Eugene found his greatest joy in the outdoors, bird hunting. He was an avid hunter who cherished his time spent in the field with his beloved bird dogs. In fact, Eugene would tell you that there were three things he would not loan out to anyone: number one, his truck; number two, his dogs; and number three, his wife. Above all, Eugene loved his family. He especially treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply enjoying time together, his family was at the center of his life.
Eugene was a faithful member of the Wynne Church of Christ, where his faith guided him throughout his life. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, unwavering love for his family, and deep appreciation for the simple blessings of life.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jenny Lee Burnett Sisson, Edna Lou Burnett Smith; granddaughter, Lizzie Blair Ann Burnett.
