JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro teacher has been named one of five semifinalists for 2027 Arkansas Teacher of the Year award.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced the semifinalists during a ceremony Thursday in Little Rock.

Kayti Wilson is a kindergarten teacher at the Jonesboro Kindergarten Center in the Jonesboro Public Schools district. The other semifinalists are Mickey Duvall of Russellville, Eric Green of Benton, Melissa Purifoy of Fort Smith and Lindsay Rankin of Springdale.

Each semifinalist received a $1,000 award from the Walton Family Foundation. Site visits will be conducted for each of the semi-finalists before the 2027 Arkansas Teacher of the Year is announced this fall.

The state winner will then be eligible to apply for the National Teacher of the Year Program.
