The Jonesboro Police Department has identified the victims and suspected gunman in yesterday’s deadly shooting incident.
According to police, 32-year-old Tarail Moody of Jonesboro is suspected of shooting seven people and killing two. The incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday at 641 Burke Avenue in Jonesboro.
Jonesboro police said Dwight Starks, 24, of Jonesboro, died at the scene of a gunshot wound to the chest. Amari Giles, 20, of Jonesboro, sustained “major gunshot wounds” later died at a Jonesboro hospital, police said.
A third victim is currently being treated at The Med in Memphis.
Police said Moody also died at the scene but did not specify how he was killed.
Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliott said the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.
Four victims were initially treated for gunshot wounds at an area hospital, with another seeking treatment. That makes eight total shooting victims, three dead including the suspect.
Chief Elliott said the building where the shooting occurred was an illegal gathering spot that had broken several code violations.
