Jonesboro closes part of Main Street due to falling debris

JONESBORO, Ark. — The city of Jonesboro has closed part of Main Street to vehicle traffic after debris fell from a building.

The city said part of the front column of a two-story building in the 200 block of South Main Street separated from the structure and fell onto the sidewalk. No injuries were reported.

The closure affects Main Street from Huntington Avenue to Cate Avenue. Pedestrian traffic will still be allowed outside of a buffer area.

Efforts are underway to stabilize the building. The closure is not expected to be long-term.
