Jonesboro City Council approves $180 million in bonds for new frozen foods plant

JONESBORO, Ark. — The Jonesboro City Council has approved an ordinance that will issue revenue bonds to a company planning to build a factory at the Craighead Technology Park.

The council unanimously agreed last night to issue $180 million in industrial development bonds for Nichirei Global Foods LLC. The company is a subsidiary of InnovAsian Cuisine Enterprises.

The company will use the bonds to help build its frozen Asian factory in Jonesboro. Upon completion, the company will employ between 175 and 200 workers.

A timeline on construction and completion was not given by company officials, who attended last night’s meeting.
