WYNNE — The third annual Jodi Lawson Memorial Scholarship fundraiser is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Bill Thomas Tech Center.
“We’re going to serve catfish from 4:30 p.m. on,” said Joanne Lawson, who helps organize the event. “We’ve got a gospel singing group coming in at that time. They will be singing until 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., and then we’re going to have a live auction. We’re kind of excited about this.”
Plates are $15 each, with proceeds supporting students attending private, Christian-based colleges or universities.
“It goes to the Jodi Lawson Memorial Scholarship, which is a scholarship for youth that are going to Assemblies of God colleges,” Lawson said. “As most people know whenever you attend a private institution or a private college or university, the prices are very, very high. It’s very expensive, so every little bit helps. We want to be able to help the students and provide a little bit of extra money for them when they go to college.”
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. The live auction will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.
