HICKORY RIDGE — A Hickory Ridge farmer is growing a crop that many may not be familiar with.
While rice remains one of the top crops in Cross County, Dillon Wilson of Hickory Ridge is growing milo, also known as grain sorghum.
Milo is frequently grown for animal feed, but it is also a gluten-free grain that can replace wheat for those with gluten allergies or sensitivities.
The Cross County University of Arkansas Extension Service said only 727 acres of milo were planted in Cross County this year.
