Greene County sheriff fires nine after death of inmate from Forrest City

PARAGOULD, Ark. — Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder has fired nine people after a Forrest City woman died while incarcerated at the Greene County Detention Center last week.

Snyder said he fired the nine because they didn’t meet the standards he set for the detention center.

“I also want to retrain for every employee of our jail starting immediately. It covers how to recognize and respond if someone in our care needs medical help and how to properly check on every inmate every time,” Snyder said.

The Arkansas State Police is conducting an independent investigation into the Sept. 22 death of Atiyanna Willis.

Willis’ autopsy results have not been released.
