LITTLE ROCK — Google held closed-door, invitation-only meetings in Little Rock and West Memphis yesterday to discuss plans to build data centers in the two cities.
Google is building a $4 billion data center in West Memphis, where work is already underway. The company also plans a data center at the Port of Little Rock.
Google is working with Entergy Arkansas on a plan to power the West Memphis facility. The Arkansas Public Service Commission has approved a special rate contract between Google and Entergy for that project.
Google did not say why the public and press were excluded from the meetings, nor did it say how many other invitation-only meetings have been held — or will be held.
