FORREST CITY — The Forrest City Police Department called off a raffle fundraiser just hours before it was set to begin on Wednesday.
The department released a statement saying the department would join with a local pawn shop to raffle off a brand-new AR-15 rifle. The gun would have come equipped with a light, laser, and tech scope.
The proceeds from the raffle would have gone to Forrest City’s youth programs.
Police Chief Ronald Broussard canceled the raffle late yesterday afternoon following several complaints over the nature of the raffle. The department will decide on another fundraiser for the city’s youth at a later time.
