FORREST CITY — Citizens in Forrest City could be asked to approve a bond issue to solve some water problems.
“We are looking at trying to get a $20 million bond and grant package to possibly put $15 million of that towards the water leak and remove and replace water lines throughout the city,” said Forrest City Mayor Larry Bryant. “The other balance would go towards the $6 million we already have and we’d end up with close to $12 million to still get the water softener.”
Bryant also talks about the walking trail being completed at the Forrest City Sports Complex.
“Over a mile of walking track that’s 12-feet wide with a bike lane, they’ve been working out there for about two weeks now grinding up the old road, putting soil cement in and everything,” he said. “Everyone that has an opportunity after this week, go out there and walk on our track. That’s why we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars so the citizens of Forrest City can have what no one around us has a 12-foot walking track and bicycle track.”
